| Leaves
The NGO must have a clear policy on leaves covering
1 Type and number of paid leaves for its employees.
2 Complimentary leaves to employees who work on official holidays
3 Deduction from salary of employees for non paid leaves
Annual Leave
All employees should be entitled to 12 to 24 working days
off as paid leave per year.
This leave is accrued monthly at the rate of 1 to 2 working days.
Sick Leave
Employees are entitled to 6 to 12 working days of sick
leave per year.
Sick leave is accumulated at the rate of 1/2 day to 1 day for every
full month worked.
Employees have to present a medial certificate to substantiate claims
for sick leave for absences exceeding two successive days.
Maternity Leave
All female employees are entitled to maternity leave of
60 to 90 calendar days (inclusive of holidays) once or twice in
their lifetime.
The NGO may put guidelines that the maternity leave will be applicable
to all female employees who have completed a minimum of two or three
years with the NGO or the NGO may have a policy of giving maternity
leave immediately after joining the NGO.
Paternity Leave
Male employees may be entitled to a paternity leave of
2 to 3 working days twice in their lifetime.
Mourning Leave
In case of death of a parent, child or spouse, employees
be given mourning leave which can vary from 3 days to 13 days depending
on the NGO and customs with the community.
Leave without Pay
Employees on probation may not be entitled to leave with pay.
Leave without pay may be granted to employees up to 24 to 36 days
per year.
Long leave without pay (6 months or more) may not be counted in
the period of service
Employees can not take leave without pay unless they have exhausted
all their other leaves.
Absences
An employee who is unable to come to the office is required to write
to the immediate superior or HR deparment (as notified by the NGO)
about the reason of her / his absence. Absences not authroised by
the immediate superior or HR deparment (as notified by the NGO)
can be subject to disciplinary action.
