Challenges of the district : Our research with local communities
There are about 20 to 25 iron factories in and around Raigarh. Due to these factories there has been environment violation to a great extent. The toxic gases coming out of the chimneys cause major health crisis among all the residents. Government is renting out lands for factories and industries without considering the ill effects on the people. People have objected to these expansions of factories but their plea fell on deaf ears. Inspite of all this, government is still providing the companies with forest and environment clearance certificate. This is one of the major problems faced by people living in this district.
