Challenges of the district : Our research with local communities Sabarkantha is a tribal region. Unavailability of
water is the main challenge we face.
Health and education is also another grave issue that needs urgent
attention. Infrastructure is also very weak. The schools are not well
maintained and the quality is not that great.
The main issue faced by the youth is unemployment.
Migration is also a big issue. People go out in search of jobs.
Environmental issue is also a growing concern.

of the district is Himmatnagar, about 80 km from Sabarkantha. Sabarkantha
District has a population of over 2 million in its 7,390 km² area.
Sabarkantha District is bounded by Rajasthan state to the northeast,
Banaskantha and Mehsana districts to the west, Gandhinagar and Kheda
districts to the south and Panchmahal District to the east.

Other details
Sabar dairy, 2nd biggest Co-operative dairy (even
bigger than famous Amul) producing 10 lakh liters of milk a day
is located in Himmatnagar. Shamlaji hosts a 3-week long fair on
the full moon of the Hindu New Year.
