Short History
Founded by BALRAM DAS after whom the state was named. The biggest Taluqdari in Oudh.

Maharaja Bahadur Sir BHAGWATI PRASAD SINGH (adoptive son) 1896/1921, born 19th July 1879, K.C.I.E. [cr.1906], K.C.S.I., married and had issue. He died 25th May 1921.

Maharaja Bahadur Sir PATESHWARI PRASAD SINGH 1921/1964, born 2nd January 1914, educated at Mayo College, Ajmer; Kt. [cr.1941], married 1932 Maharani Rajya Laxmi Kumari Devi (1918-1999), daughter of HH Maharaja Chandra Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana of Nepal. He died sp 1964 and was succeeded by his adoptive son from Gangwal.

About District
BALRAMPUR, a town of British India near the river Rapti, 28 m. from Gonda, in the Gonda district of the United Provinces. Pop. (1901) 16,723. It gives its name to one of the largest ialu-kdari estates in the province. The raja, Sir Drigbijai Singh K.C.S.I., was conspicuously l0yal during the Mutiny, and was rewarded with accessions of territory and hereditary privileges. His death in 1882 gave rise to prolonged litigation and the estate was thrown into chancery. The in-come is estimated at 120,000, paying a revenue of 46,000. Numerous schools and hospitals are supported. Balrampur contains a large palace, a handsome modern temple and an Anglo-vernacular school.

DHARMENDRA PRASAD SINGH (1964/-) born 1958, educated at Mayo College, Ajmer; married 6th March 1980 Maharani Vandana Rajya Lakshmi, daughter of Lt. Col. Ina Shumshere Jung Bahadur Rana of Nepal and has issue. Maharaj Kumar Jayendra Pratap Singh, born 29th December 1980, educated at Mayo College, Ajmer. Maharaj Kumari Vijayshree Singh, born 21st April 1984.
