Brief About Ganderwal District
District Srinagar comprises three Tehsils namely Srinagar Khas,Ganderbal and Kangan. In view of contiguity, compactness and administrativeconvenience of the area it would be appropriate to include two existing Tehsils namelyGanderbal and Kangan in the newly created District Ganderbal which is flanked byDistrict Baramulla in the west, District Srinagar in the south, newly created DistrictBandipora in the north-west, Arahome Forests in the north, District Ganderwal in the southand District Kargil in the east. Ganderbal District enjoys a unique geographical positionas it represents the last station depicting all the scenic features of the Kashmir valley andthe gateway to the sky-touching, denuded, magnificient and multicoloured mountainranges of the famous “moon land” i.e. Ladakh. Added to this; the presence of famoushealth resort Sonamarg and Mansbal lake on its fringes, Qamar Sahib and Tulmullashrines in its lap and Sindh Nallah traversing through; can contribute to the emergence ofthis area both as a recreation and pilgrim tourist spot, triggering a chain of developmentactivities that would catapult this region into economic prominence.

Ganderbal District is a newly formed district of the state of Jammu and Kashmir of India.
