Livelihoods
Through a wide array of vocational training programs,
DRF addresses the issues of employability, income generation
and consequent improvement in quality of life.
Education
DRF strives to provide various opportunities for learning
to those who have never been to school, or have dropped
out of it; it also works to improve the quality of education
in schools. |

Dr.
Reddy’s Foundation (DRF) is a non profit partner of
Dr. Reddy’s to promote sustainable social development.
The Foundation innovates and tries out novel concepts that
are continuously refined and scaled up to cover larger groups
of deprived populations. As sustainable development cannot
take place until people are empowered, the foundation consciously
works towards uplifting the disadvantaged in the society
through its various programs. |

| Sustainable
Livelihoods, the LABS Way |
DRF
attempts to bridge the divide between those who have access
to opportunities and those who are increasingly being
marginalized.
To enable these youth to gain a foothold in the competitive
job market, LABS gives them livelihood and soft skills
in an environment of interactive learning and mentoring
that develops their inherent strengths. The curriculum
is constantly upgraded in tune with industry requirements.
The aspirants are also put through intensive Communicative
English, on-the-job training and work-readiness modules,

: Striving for Quality |
Using schools as community learning resource centres,
DRF develops local knowledge, skills and leadership, and
encourages self-sufficiency in schools through training
and other services, and implements innovative schooling
strategies in association with the mainstream education
system. In 1999, DRF had initiated the ‘School Community
Partnership in Education’ (SCOPE) project under
the ‘Program for Enrichment of School Level Education’
(PESLE) with Aga Khan Foundation, with a view to developing
the school as a valuable resource, by strengthening the
participation of different stakeholders and creating access
to the formal education system for out-of-school adolescents.
Adopting government schools in Balanagar Mandal (RR District,
AP) and the twin cities of Hyderabad-Secunderabad, DRF
has launched several innovative initiatives in curriculum
development, teacher training and community involvement.
