Ecosan Services Foundation is a Non-Profit Organisation with
the objective to provide full ecological sanitation project
packages including consulting, project planning, implementation,
operation & maintenance and project financing. Ecosan provides
tailor-made solutions for your specific sanitation problems
and help you to implement a sustainable sanitation system.
ESF provides ecological sanitation services to:
• Municipalities & State Governments
• NGO’s
• Companies & Developers
• Private Individuals
Objective
The objective of Ecosan is to produce hygienically safe and
useful resources from human wastes. This does not only improve
the environmental situation, but also improves the living conditions
in a sustainable way and lowers risks for human health.

About
ECOSAN
Ecological
sanitation implies separating waste streams, saving water &
energy, nutrient recycling, cost efficiency, and the integration
of technology to environmental, organisational and social conditions.
The philosophy of ecosan is to reuse nutrients and water contained
in “waste water” for agriculture, horticulture or
wasteland greening, instead of disposing them into rivers, lakes
or groundwater aquifers where they cause many environmental
problems and contaminate precious fresh water resources. The
objective is to protect human health & the environment while
reducing the use of water in sanitation systems & recycling
nutrients to help reduce the need for artificial fertilizers
in agriculture.
Ecosan system restore remarkable natural balance between the
quantity of nutrients excreted by per person in one year and
to produce their food so it helps to save limited resources.
Ecosan does not favor a particular technology but it is a philosophy
in recycling oriented resource management which offers modern,
convenient, gender friendly and desirable solutions.

2 126 participants have been trained so far
3 6 projects planned/implemented by former course participants
4 Further 7 courses in India, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and
the Middle East are scheduled until June 2008.
